Lone Pine is in the Eastern Sierra region of California's Sierra Nevada Mountains. Lone Pine is in the extreme southern part of the Owens Valley. Lone Pine is the gateway to the highest peak in the continental U.S., Mount Whitney, which is easily seen from Lone Pine by just looking up. Lone Pine is the principal commercial center for this area. This strip still boast a wonderful old world western feel. Most of the storefronts have kept their historical storefronts giving the town wonderful quaint home towns feel. Lone Pine's main street is a few blocks long and has a number of motels, eating establishments, and sporting goods stores and the interesting Lone Pine Film Museum.
